    Sutter Health Names Four New Board Members

    SACRAMENTO, Calif., Jan. 17, 2012 - Sutter Health announced today the appointment of four new members of Sutter Health's board of directors. The new appointees began their term of service for the not-for-profit network of care on Jan. 1, 2012. They are:

    • Sharon L. McCollam, director and executive vice president, chief operating officer and chief financial officer of Williams-Sonoma
    • David G. Nasaw, cofounder and managing director of Metropolitan Real Estate Equity Management, LLC
    • Joan Smith-Maclean, M.D., family medicine physician and site director of the Sutter Health Family Medicine Residency Program in Davis
    • Barry L. Williams, president and a retired general partner of Williams Pacific Ventures, Inc., a venture investing and consulting company in San Francisco

    The following are highlights of these board members’ professional experience and achievements.

    Sharon L. McCollam
    Since 2006, Ms. McCollam has served as Executive Vice President, Chief Operating and Chief Financial Officer for Williams-Sonoma, a $4 billion publicly traded specialty retailer of home products. She has been employed by Williams-Sonoma, Inc. since 2000. In her current role, she is responsible for the long-term strategic planning activities of the company and oversees multiple key functions, including finance, investor relations, information technology, real estate, corporate operations and human resources. Ms. McCollam was elected to the Williams-Sonoma, Inc. board of directors in 2010. She holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Central Oklahoma and resides in Redwood City.

    David G. Nasaw
    Cofounder of Metropolitan Real Estate Equity Management in New York and founder of Metropolitan Real Estate Advisors in San Francisco, Mr. Nasaw has more than 40 years of real estate investment experience. The two firms manage in excess of $3 billion of equity in residential, commercial and industrial properties in the United States, Europe and Asia. Mr. Nasaw graduated from Northwestern University and holds a master’s degree in business administration from the Kellogg School of Management. He is a resident of Ross.

    Joan Smith-Maclean, M.D.
    A family medicine physician and site director of the Sutter Health Family Medicine Residency Program in Davis, Dr. Smith-Maclean also serves as a clinical professor of family and community medicine at UC Davis. A longtime family medicine physician in Yolo County, Dr. Smith-Maclean helped establish Davis-based Sutter West Medical Group, as well as the Sutter Health Family Medicine Residency Program. A former member of Sutter Health’s Sacramento Sierra Region board of directors, she holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from UC Davis and is a graduate of the College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University. She resides in Davis.

    Barry L. Williams
    Mr. Williams is the retired managing general partner of Williams Pacific Ventures, a venture investment and consulting firm based in San Francisco. He previously worked at McKinsey & Company and Bechtel Investments and was CEO of the American Management Association. Mr. Williams has served on the boards of several health care institutions, as well as several corporate boards. He is a graduate of Harvard College, Harvard Business School and Harvard Law School. He resides in Oakland and Menlo Park.

    Sutter Health Local Governance Structure
    The Sutter Health board of directors oversees Sutter Health, which supports the delivery of health care in more than 100 Northern California communities. The board consists of community leaders from throughout the region. In addition, local or regional boards—whose members include volunteers from local communities—govern each of Sutter's hospitals and medical foundations.
