Sutter Health Names New Chief Information Officer
SACRAMENTO, Calif. October 11, 2006 – Sutter Health announces the appointment of Jonathan Manis, a veteran health care information technology leader, as chief information officer (CIO) for its network of not-for-profit hospitals, physician organizations and other health care service providers in Northern California.
In his new position, Manis will oversee Sutter Health's existing administrative, operational and clinical support systems as well as Sutter's more than $1 billion investment to improve health care quality through the use of patient safety technologies such as medication bar coding, its eICU® system and the electronic health record.
"Jon's wealth of expertise is crucial to our continued success in using innovative and advanced technologies to help raise care standards ever higher and respond to consumer need for improved convenience and service in care," said Sutter Health president and CEO Patrick E. Fry.
Manis is a seasoned professional with more than 20 years of experience in health care IT leadership. He joins Sutter Health from Illinois-based Provena Health, where for the past five years he served as system vice president of administrative services and CIO. Manis also served as vice president of information services for Advocate Health Care, another Illinois health system.
Manis attended the United States Naval Academy and holds a bachelor's degree from Auburn University in Alabama and a master's degree in information science from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California.
He began work with Sutter Health on Sept. 29.
