U.S. News & World Report Ranks Sutter Neuroscience Institute As One of Nation's Best
SACRAMENTO, Calif., July 11, 2008 - Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento, headquarters for the regional Sutter Neuroscience Institute, is ranked 37th on the list of America's Best Hospitals 2008 for neurology and neurosurgery in U.S. News & World Report, accessible today online at www.usnews.com/besthospitals and on sale at newsstands Monday, July 14.
Authoritative and influential, the 2008 America's Best Hospitals guide ranks 170 medical centers nationwide in 16 specialties -- with full data available online for another 1,500 that are unranked.
"The America's Best Hospitals rankings provide readers with trusted material during some of life's most concerning times – hospitalization," said Brian Kelly, editor of U.S. News & World Report. "Our rankings highlight the internal culture of excellence embraced by caregivers in the great hospitals throughout the United States."
This is the second year in a row that the Sutter Neuroscience Institute was ranked one of the top neuro programs in the nation. Last year, it was listed at No. 43.

Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento was rated one of the top 50 hospitals in neurology and neuroscience by the magazine using three criteria of excellence: its reputation, a low mortality rate, and a set of care-related factors such as nursing and patient services.

U.S. News & World Report ranked hospital in 16 specialties: cancer; gastroenterology; ear, nose and throat; endocrinology; geriatric care; gynecology; heart and heart surgery; kidney disease; neurology and neurosurgery; ophthalmology; orthopedics; psychiatry; rehabilitation; respiratory disorders; rheumatology; and urology.
