Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital Receives $1 Million Donation to Help Fund Hospital Expansion

Contribution is hospital’s single-largest philanthropic gift

AUBURN, Calif., October 23, 2008 - The United Auburn Indian Community (UAIC) presented the Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital Foundation a $1 million check today to help fund hospital expansion to create better ways of delivering care and improving patient safety, outcomes and service.

“This is the largest single gift ever given to Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital,” said Mitch Hanna, Chief Administrative Officer for the hospital. “The United Auburn Indian Community’s generosity is truly historic.”

“We have seen how the outstanding accomplishments at Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital have improved lives and enhanced the quality of health care in our community,” said UAIC Chairwoman Jessica Tavares, “The Tribe is honored to play a part in bringing advanced health care services to our region.”

This past May, Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital and Sutter Health initiated a new master site plan and are investing $23 million to enhance several areas of the hospital to better serve patients and accommodate staff and physicians.

In the past three years, Sutter Auburn Faith opened the Women’s Imaging Center with digital mammography and bone density testing, and the Cardiac Catheterization/Vascular lab. The Family Birth Center was remodeled and expanded to include a new nursery, private rooms and a Jacuzzi tub for laboring moms. In addition, the Emergency Department was renovated and expanded. These recent plans are the latest in a series of service improvements intended to provide the Auburn community with a high quality, comprehensive hospital.

The new Sutter Auburn Faith project touches three key areas:

    Patient Room Remodel
Upgrades will occur in 61 of our patient rooms, with most of the semi-private rooms being converted to private rooms for greater patient comfort and privacy. Rooms will be remodeled to include new closets, shutters, media centers, curtains, new furnishings and wall coverings.

    Operating Room Expansion and Upgrades
The hospital’s four operating rooms will be expanded and modernized with new operating room equipment, lighting and ventilation systems.

    Hospital-wide Renovation
Renovation will replace throughout the hospital to replace ceiling tiles, floors, lighting, and wall coverings in the common areas and to upgrade mechanical systems, replace windows and install patient safety equipment.

“Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital is committed to bringing quality health care services to this community,” said Hanna. “But we rely on assistance from the community in order to meet health care needs. We are extremely grateful to the United Auburn Indian Community and their gift that will help shape health care delivery in the Auburn area.”
