Sutter Health Welcomes New Board Member
SACRAMENTO, Calif. December 7, 2009 - Sutter Health today announced the appointment of Michael R. Gaulke, president, CEO and executive chairman of Exponent Inc., to its Board of Directors. He brings to this role more than 35 years of experience in consulting and management of high-technology companies.
For the past 17 years, Mr. Gaulke has held senior management roles at Exponent Inc., a firm specializing in engineering and scientific consulting. Prior to joining Exponent, Mr. Gaulke served as the executive vice-president and chief financial officer for Raynet Corporation, a fiber-to-the-curb telecommunications company. Among his earlier roles, he also was a senior executive at Spectra-Physics and a consultant with McKinsey & Company. In 2008, the Oregon State University inducted Mr. Gaulke into its Engineering Hall of Fame.
For 22 years, Mr. Gaulke has focused on advancing health care quality and access as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Sutter Health-affiliated Palo Alto Medical Foundation. Since early 2009 – when Sutter Health facilities and services internally organized into five geographic regions – Mr. Gaulke has represented the Sutter Health Peninsula-Coastal Region on the Finance and Planning Committee of the Sutter Health Board of Directors.
Mr. Gaulke and his wife live in Atherton.
