Eden Medical Center Shines in New State Report on Patient Care
CASTRO VALLEY, Calif., February, 2009 - Eden Medical Center and its Sutter East Bay Neuroscience Center (SEBNC) is among the best hospitals in the state for patients undergoing craniotomy surgery, according to a new report released by Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD). The Sutter Health affiliate was rated “better-than-average” in the report, which examined outcomes from 400 hospitals across California. Eden is one of only 25 hospitals statewide and three in the Bay Area to earn better than average results.
OSHPD’s study examined mortality rates for three medical conditions and five surgical procedures, including craniotomies. It found that Eden Medical Center had a mortality rate of 0.7 percent compared to statewide average of 6.7 percent – a 90 percent difference.
