Partners in Care/Visiting Nurse Association Continuous Care (VNA/CC) Receives Prestigious Certification

MODESTO, Calif., June 10, 2009 - Partners in Care/Visiting Nurse Association Continuous Care (VNA/CC) has received the prestigious “Home Care Aide Organization Certification” from the California Association for Health Services at Home (CAHSAH). The certification recognizes that VNA/CC meets certain standards for providing non-medical home care services.

“Home care aide organizations are the only unlicensed, unregulated health care services in California,” observed Veronica King, VNA’s Executive Director. “In fact, the only requirement to provide non-medical home care services in a person’s home is a business license.” Without oversight and accountability, many consumers and family members take a risk when they hire caregivers who have not been thoroughly screened, trained and properly insured.

“As home care continues to become the nations’ fastest growing industry, VNA/CC and CAHSAH strive to promote the utmost in quality care and advocate for high standards and accountability from all home care providers,” said King.

Under the umbrella of Partners in Care, VNA/CC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Memorial Hospitals Association, a Sutter Health affiliate. All VNA/CC employees are bonded and undergo health screenings, drug tests and background checks. Each employee must maintain a current CPR certificate and complete the agency’s required competencies on a yearly basis.

VNA/CC provides services in the following areas: bathing, personal grooming, dressing, exercising, light housekeeping, laundry, shopping, medication reminders and meal preparation. VNA/CC has also partnered
with Philips Lifeline to provide clients with personal emergency monitoring. Additional customized services, such as transportation for clients following outpatient procedures, are also offered. An on-call supervisor is available for assistance when the office is closed.

“Together with CAHSAH, VNA/CC will continue to bring important home care initiatives to our legislatures to protect consumers, families and home care workers throughout California,” King said. “VNA/CC is proud to be recognized as an exemplary agency in California and is confident in our ability to provide vital services throughout the communities that we serve.”
