Memorial Medical Center recognized with BD Safety Recognition Award
MODESTO, Calif., December 15, 2009 - BD Diagnostics-Preanalytical Systems has presented Memorial Medical Center with the BD Safety Recognition Award, which recognizes health care institutions across the country that are committed to providing a safer environment for their health care professionals. The award was one of only two presented to health care institutions in California and 16 presented throughout the nation.
“Memorial has always promoted a culture of safety,” observes Elizabeth Ann Vencill, Memorial’s Laboratory Safety Officer. “We use safety engineered sharps and other products that have been shown to prevent injuries, develop strategies and goals for injury prevention, and work with departments throughout the hospital to coordinate our efforts to prevent injuries. The cumulative efforts of employees throughout the hospital and our Sharps Committee resulted in zero injuries in the entire hospital for the month of October 2009, which is an amazing accomplishment.”
