Physician Foundation Brings Primary Care Doctors to Marin

San Francisco, June 1, 2009 - Physician Foundation at California Pacific Medical Center (PFCPMC) announced today that Tareq Elqousy, M.D., a board-certified internist and pediatrician, has joined its Marin Headlands Medical Group. Based in Novato, Dr. Elqousy cares for newborns to seniors, offering a “one-stop shop” for an individual’s primary health care needs. In March, Ellen Rosenthal, M.D., an internal medicine physician based in Greenbrae, also joined the Physician Foundation.

“We are thrilled to bring more primary care physicians to Marin County,” says Morris Flaum, M.D., MBA, chief executive officer of Physician Foundation at California Pacific Medical Center. He adds, “Dr. Elqousy and Dr. Rosenthal are committed to caring for the general health care needs of individuals in Marin County and are helping to fill a gap in primary care practitioners in this area.”

Dr. Elqousy comes to the Physician Foundation from Mercy General Hospital in Merced, where he served as chairman of the Internal Medicine Department. He was also medical director of Castle Family Health Centers in Merced. Dr. Elqousy trained in internal medicine and pediatrics at Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown, New Jersey. He received his medical degree from Cairo University School of Medicine.

“I enjoy being on the front lines of medicine, helping individuals modify their lifestyle to positively affect their health,” says Elqousy. He adds, “With my pediatrics and internal medicine training, I often take care of all generations of a family—from newborns to grandparents—which is a very satisfying part of my job.”

Prior to joining the Physician Foundation, Ellen Rosenthal, M.D. served as the regular internist for the Marin County HIV Specialty Clinic. She has also held inpatient and outpatient private practice positions in San Mateo, and served as a hospitalist at Mills-Peninsula and Marin General Hospital. Dr. Rosenthal received her medical degree from Yale and completed her training at University of Washington and University of Colorado, Denver.
