Three Sutter Express Care Medical Clinics to Close
Sutter Express Care Clinics in Natomas, Roseville and Greenhaven Remain Open, Expand Services
SACRAMENTO, Calif., January 28, 2009 - Sutter Health will close three of its Sutter Express Care clinics at Rite Aid stores in Elk Grove, Folsom and Rancho Cordova. The last day of operations for the three clinics will be February 15. The health care network will continue to focus its resources on three Sutter Express Care clinics at Rite Aid stores in Natomas, Greenhaven and Roseville, which continue to attract growing numbers of patients and will remain open. Sutter Health is evaluating a number of new services set to be implemented at these clinics including a smoking-cessation program and a weight-loss program.
“Our customer surveys show that patients and families love the clinics and our health care providers,” said Sutter Express Care Director Pete Dzwilewski. “We get positive feedback every day. However, with limited resources and a desire to expand services, we need to focus all of our efforts on the three busiest clinics,” he added. Dzwilewski said the clinics set to be closed did not achieve expected levels of customer use.
Sutter Health, which is believed to be the first California health care network to provide this retail service, opened its first Sutter Express Care clinic in Natomas in December 2006. Since then, the six Express Care clinics have served more than 28,000 patients.
The price for most visits is a flat fee of $65 – far less than emergency rooms or urgent care clinics. Visits are about 30 minutes. No insurance is necessary, but many health plans are accepted. Anyone 18 months or older is welcome, including those who do not have a Sutter physician. The clinics are open seven days a week with extended hours on weeknights.
