    Sutter Health Employees, Hospitals Honored with Best of BEACON Awards

    SACRAMENTO, Calif., August 5, 2011 - Sutter Health employees and hospitals were recognized by the BEACON Collaborative, a peer-to-peer learning network of hospitals focusing on improving quality care by adopting evidence-based, innovative practices.

    In partnership with Convergence Health Consulting, the Hospital Council of Northern and Central California sponsors this patient safety collaborative of 39 participating hospitals located throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation provides funding.

    Individual Spirit Awards

    • Jennifer Giusti, R.N., Director of Quality, Sutter Health West Bay Region. Honored for leadership in quality improvement programs in five hospitals in the Bay Area.
    • Lynda Hooper, System Clinical Transformation Director for Sutter Health. Honored for leadership in Sutter Health’s collaborative PACE (Partners Advancing Clinical Excellence) program, which has improved care quality and reduced incidence of hospital-acquired infections.
    Hospital Program Awards
    • Mills-Peninsula Health Services, Best Use of Patient Stories. Honored for its innovative “Our Bedside Stories” program, a quarterly staff meeting established to share patient stories and empower staff to identify new methods for delivering personal care.
    • Novato Community Hospital, Power of Peers Award. Honored for its development of a standard Advanced Nursing Intervention (ANI) procedure to support local PACE efforts and guide nurses in caring for patients with severe sepsis.
