Attorney General Approves Affiliation with St. Luke's Hospital
June 26, 2001 - California Attorney General Bill Lockyer announced today that he will allow the affiliation process between Sutter Health and St. Luke's Hospital of San Francisco to go forward.
Sutter Health is pleased that the Attorney General moved swiftly to assess the impact of an affiliation between St. Luke's and Sutter Health. Sutter Health is equally pleased that the Attorney General decided to allow the process to move forward without imposing conditions which would have restricted the ability of St. Luke's board to operate the facility in the best interests of the south of Market neighborhoods. This is a significant and positive milestone.
The remaining key step in the process is the review and approval of due diligence (operations analysis) and closing documents, including conditions, by the Sutter Health Board of Directors. The board will meet July 12.
