Patient Satisfaction
Patient satisfaction is an important measure of quality, and it is a high priority throughout Sutter Health. Results from patient satisfaction surveys allow us to compare our performance to other hospitals and medical groups across California and the nation. We set goals for our performance and work to continually improve.
Patient Satisfaction with our Hospitals
California PEP-C Survey
Sutter Health hospitals are among 200 other hospitals in California that voluntarily participated in a patient satisfaction survey known as the Patients' Evaluation of Performance in California (PEP-C) project.
The survey asked more than 20,000 Californians hospitalized questions like:
- Were you treated with respect and as a partner in the health care process?
- How well did hospital staff address your fears and anxieties?
- Did hospital staff explain test results and treatment options in a way you could understand?
- Did doctors and nurses explain what to expect after you left the hospital?

Patient Satisfaction with our Doctors and Medical Groups
Patient satisfaction survey scores from medical groups aligned and affiliated with Sutter Health are benchmarked against other medical groups throughout California. The survey addresses patients’ overall rating of care received, getting treatment, tests and specialty care, timeliness of care and service, and communicating with patients.
