Partnering with Our Communities

For the fourth year in a row, we were recognized as the top fundraising team in Northern California for the March of Dimes.

Since 1997, Sutter Health and our generous affiliates have raised over $2.3 million in support of the March of Dimes' lifesaving research and programs.

"March of Dimes would not be what it is today without the support of organizations like Sutter; together we share a mission to protect the health and well-being of babies born in Northern California. The Sutter family has raised more than $2.3 million in support of our lifesaving research and programs. As one of our top WalkAmerica teams, Sutter is with us every step of the way as we expand our mission to give every baby a healthy start."

Sutter Health was awarded a $6.1 million grant from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation to expand and develop model patient safety programs over the next four years.

The grant is believed to be one of the largest single awards for patient safety ever provided to a U.S. health care system. Our network was selected for our long-term dedication to quality improvement.

We matched the award, bringing the total dedicated funds to more than $12 million.

"Sutter Health was selected to receive this grant because of its exceptionally strong existing commitment to ensuring patient safety and to sharing the findings of this project more broadly with the community."

As a result of an expanded charity care policy implemented throughout our system in early 2004, our charity care contribution increased by more than 24 percent from $59 million in 2005 to a record $73 million in 2006.

Sutter's total investment in providing care and services for the poor and underserved and in benefits for the broader community was $483 million.

"Charity care isn't just a slogan at Sutter Health; it's a deep felt commitment. Everyone gets the same high-quality care and treatment at our facilities from our care providers regardless of their ability to pay."
