Kudos for Quality
The Lewin Group—a respected independent health care policy and research firm—ranked Sutter Health #1 in California for health care quality and 30th in the nation. Lewin based its rankings on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ core measures and patient satisfaction results.
Efficiency Draws National Attention
Recognized for setting a national benchmark for health care efficiency, Sutter Health’s Sacramento Sierra Region participated in a Washington, D.C., forum on health care reform. The discussion on the state of health care allowed participants to share successes and learn best practices from other top-performing organizations.
“The doctors and nurses at Sutter saved my life so I can run around and play like a regular kid.”

Hospitals Make the Grade

Only 36 of 281 participating hospitals across California earned this prestigious honor. Of these, one-third came from our Sutter Health family. They are:
- Alta Bates Summit Medical Center (Alta Bates and Summit campuses)
- California Pacific Medical Center (California and Davies campuses)
- Eden Medical Center
- Marin General Hospital
- Novato Community Hospital
- Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital
- Sutter Davis Hospital
- Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento (Sutter General and Sutter Memorial hospitals)
- Sutter Roseville Medical Center
- Sutter Tracy Community Hospital
First Hospital Goes Live on Electronic Health Record System
Mills-Peninsula Health Services became the first hospital to go live with the Sutter-wide electronic health record system. Within months of this milestone, Mills-Peninsula earned industry recognition as being among the top 1 percent of hospitals nationwide for its medical staff adoption of computerized physician order entry.
Leaps and Bounds Above the Rest
Sutter-affiliated California Pacific Medical Center (California campus) ranked among the top hospitals in the nation for quality patient care. The rating came from The Leapfrog Group, a consortium of large employers that challenges health care providers to make significant “leaps” in health care safety, quality and customer value. CPMC’s top marks reflect the hospital’s long-term commitment to patient safety and excellence.
Quality Care Across Patients’ Lifetimes
The Institute of Medicine, Dartmouth researchers and the Center for Health Transformation recognized Sutter’s Advanced Illness Management (AIM™) program. The groups praised AIM for its commitment to better meet patients’ end-of-life care wishes, improve quality of life and ease the cost burden on patients, their families and the overall health care system.
Innovation Gets National Attention
Sutter Roseville Medical Center piloted an innovative program to provide compassionate hospice services for patients and families. As a result, the Institute of Medicine invited the hospital to participate in a Washington, D.C. conference on how to better deliver care to patients in the final stages of life.
