Department Chief, Hospitalist Medicine

East Bay Physicians Medical Group (EBPMG) is a multi-specialty medical group of over 125 physicians affiliated with Sutter East Bay Medical Foundation (SEBMF). EBPMG and SEBMF provide high quality, high value care as measured by patient satisfaction, provider satisfaction, and financial performance.

EBPMG is seeking a Hospitalist Department Chief to lead an established team of hospitalists supporting 4-hospitals in the East Bay under an integrated delivery system. This position reports to the group Medical Director and is responsible for providing oversight of the Hospitalist Division?s clinical and financial programs.

The candidate will be responsible for hiring and training, as well as ensuring appropriate staffing for our 4-hospital program. The candidate will participate in hospital and medical group committees and will work with the SEBMF management, the President and Medical Director of EBPMG, and other colleagues within EBPMG to manage and optimize the delivery of quality care. In addition, this position will be responsible for overseeing standard performance reviews within the department at all levels. This position will provide clinical services as a Hospitalist as needed in times of staffing shortages.

Qualified candidates must be Board Certified in Internal Medicine; minimum of 5 years as a practicing hospitalist; minimum of 2 years experience in administrative management with business training; and leadership experience. Candidates must have a strong background in utilization management (UM), tracking core measures (LOS, quality measures, patient satisfaction, etc.), developing and implementing best practice standards, and development of policies and procedures. Large, multi-campus hospitalist experience required. Electronic health records experience a plus. Candidates with a MBA/MPH preferred.

The 'East Bay' Area is located across the bay from San Francisco. The area is well known for 'cultural diversity', and an abundance of restaurants, entertainment, and recreational activities. The East Bay is just a bridge away from San Francisco and the Pacific coastline, an hour from the Napa Valley wine country, and 3 hours from the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The BART metro system makes it easy to get around without a car.
