    Specialty: Cardiology

    Location: Roseville, CA
    (Sutter Independent Physicians)

    Opportunity Information
Sutter Roseville Medical Center is a medium-sized tertiary care hospital with a trauma service, and serves Roseville, Placer County, the eastern portion of Sacramento County, and a very broad portion of the Sierra foothills. On-site cardiac surgery is not currently available, and the cardiac surgery service that we use is located at Sutter Medical Center in Sacramento. This is a very large volume quaternary service with cardiac transplantation, and all state-of-the-art percutaneous and surgical therapies.

Sutter Roseville Medical Center (SRMC) serves as the major STEMI receiving center for the Sierra foothills, with approximately 100 STEMI's per year. Percutaneous coronary intervention is practiced in two cardiac catheterization laboratories, under the auspices of the California department of public health following current ACC/AHA guidelines regarding off-site PCI. SRMC was the state initiator and leader in the development of the pilot program that led to off-site PCI in California. In the four-year pilot program SRMC had statistically the best outcomes of any of the six facilities.

Roseville Cardiology Medical Associates (RCMA) is a traditional private practice single specialty group that is based at SRMC and intimately associated with the hospital. In addition to the office in Roseville, California and Lincoln, California there is an active search for an office in Auburn, California where RCMA plans to serve Auburn faith hospital.

The successful interventional cardiology candidate will have the ability to work as part of a team with the appropriate self-sacrifice that's needed, and should have excellent leadership qualities and interpersonal skills. Both the hospital and RCMA desire a candidate with long-term career goals in Roseville and to evolve with the program over a long time period. RCMA wishes to hire a board certified or board eligible interventional cardiology candidate with peripheral vascular skills. Training in structural heart disease with the ability to work independently would be also desirable. A significant amount of general cardiology work will be required. Initially this will likely be more than 50%, but it will be partially dependent on the skill set and the desire to do non-coronary work.

General cardiology call will be required, and it is anticipated that initially it will be one day per week. Weekend call for general cardiology is not anticipated currently. The candidate will be on call every other weekend for interventional cardiology. Interventional cardiology during the week will be shared with Dr. George Fehrenbacher.

Office work will be required and may total four or five half-days per week. Office work will be in Roseville, and will be in Auburn one (or possibly two) half-day per week. The predominantly used catheterization laboratories will be in Roseville, but some work will likely be performed in Auburn at Auburn Faith Hospital's single multipurpose laboratory, and certainly the catheterization laboratories at Sutter Medical Center in Sacramento can be used for structural heart disease, and advanced coronary work that is currently not sanctioned by the California department of public health off-site guidelines (e.g. CTO using advanced techniques, and unprotected left main).

The position is currently being supported by both RCMA and SRMC, and if the candidate qualifies, an income guarantee for the first year will be offered. The second and third year of employment will be production based, likely. The initial guarantee will be commensurate with local and legal standards.

The general plan will be to choose a candidate to start by early summer 2017. However an extraordinarily strong candidate with an earlier time frame could possibly start earlier in 2017.
