Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation (SPMF) has an exceptional opportunity for a highly skilled inpatient pediatric clinician to serve as Medical Director of our well established Pediatric Hospitalist Program at California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC), as part of Physician Foundation Medical Associates (PFMA). PFMA is a multi-specialty medical association made up of over 150 members operating in San Francisco.

In this leadership role, you will oversee 12 clinical FTEs who provide coverage to 2 hospitals, and be responsible for the hiring and scheduling of the Pediatric Hospitalists at both locations. One is a 120-bed community hospital that requires coverage for Labor & Delivery services, newborn care and ED support. The other is the main Pediatric Center which is a regional pediatric referral hospital. On the pediatric campus the general pediatric hospitalists provide coverage to a 25-bed pediatric med/surg floor, consultative support to the Pediatric ED and night coverage to the PICU with appropriate back-up support by a pediatric intensivist. In addition, there is a cadre of pediatric medical and surgical subspecialists who also provide care, many of whom are on the faculty of a preeminent university medical school. As the Course Director for the Medical Student Rotation in General Pediatrics, responsibilities include development of the curriculum, orientation, and evaluations of the medical students. The Medical Director will work closely with the Department Chair of Pediatrics in developing working relationships with other members of the Department including the community pediatricians, the pediatric specialists, and other surgical services who use the inpatient pediatric services, while insuring that high quality care is provided to the patients and bolstering the program through outreach efforts. Additionally, it is expected that this person will help to develop policies and procedures for the general care unit by working with nursing, the various medical and surgical disciplines and the various ancillary services needed for patient care (RT, OT/PT, nutrition, Child Life, Pharmacy, etc.). Ample administrative time will be provided to support this individual in developing a successful Pediatric Hospitalist program. This position works with the hospitalists, nurses and respiratory therapists in developing patient care plans and represents the Hospitalists at the PFMA Division Chief's meetings, at SPMF related activities, and to the CPMC administration when needed. The ideal candidate will possess excellent clinical and administrative skills.
