    Opportunity Information
Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation (SPMF) has an opportunity for a Palliative Care Physician to join a medicine group practice as part of Physician Foundation Medical Associates (PFMA). PFMA is a multi-specialty medical association made up of over 160 members operating in San Francisco. Located in beautiful San Francisco, California, we are a 785 bed hospital covering four campuses. We provide consultation support to a supportive physician community and an extraordinarily diverse group of patients, historically seeing 70-100 new consults per month as a service. Our patients and providers benefit from a supportive interdisciplinary team at our hospital, including social work, chaplaincy, volunteer coordination, bereavement support, and complementary medicine through our renowned Institute for Health and Healing.

We provide direct mentorship of internal medicine residents and medical students, and expect any applicant for this position to have a strong interest in graduate medical education. Future opportunities will include building an outpatient, clinic-based presence and then helping integrate it with other palliative care services in the community. In particular, our service will continue to integrate with Sutter Health?s Advanced Illness Management program, a novel home-based palliative care service. We have always received strong administrative support from our hospital and from Sutter Health in growing our service and advancing innovative programs.

If you are interested in experiencing America?s most beautiful city, working with its rewarding and diverse population, and enjoying the support of a team and system dedicated to the success of palliative care, then we look forward to meeting you.
