    Philosophy of Care

Dr. Saxena was born in Palo Alto, California and was motivated to become a sports medicine doctor by the founders of the PAMF Sports Medicine Department. He has since built an international reputation in the treatment of sports-related foot & ankle injuries. In 2008, 27 of his patients competed in the Olympic Trials, with 14 qualifying for the U.S. Olympic Track & Field team.

He accepts same-day emergency appointments -- especially for injured athletes -- including fractures and tendon ruptures, as his aim is to get them better as soon and as safe as possible using both surgical and non-surgical means. His goal is to help you regain a healthy active lifestyle. High school students are given same-day or next day appointments with notice from their coach, trainer or doctor whenever possible.

Dr. Saxena has published more than 60 articles and chapters (including over a dozen in orthopedic publications) and is currently authoring the textbook "International Advances in Foot & Ankle Surgery" with more than two dozen international surgeons. He has presented lectures worldwide, including his favorite topics: Achilles tendon, chronic ankle & Lisfranc's pathology and stress fractures. He serves as a sports medicine consultant for USA Track & Field and other professional teams, including the Nike Project. He is a product consultant for Arthrex Inc., Mondeal North America & Storz Medical.
