Philosophy of Care
Dr. McCall is a board eligible Orthopedic Surgeon, specializing in minimally invasive techniques in sports medicine, arthroscopic shoulder, knee and hip surgery, as well as shoulder and knee replacement surgery. His patient care philosophy centers on communication and accessibility. He believes that patients come first in the patient-doctor relationship, and that clinical problem solving begins with careful listening, observation, and examination. Ultimately, the goal is to return patients and athletes to the highest levels of activity and competition through specialized treatments or surgery.
His practice includes arthroscopic shoulder instability, rotator cuff repair, and shoulder replacement surgery. He also focuses on knee ligament reconstruction (ACL/PCL), patellofemoral realignment, resurfacing and cartilage repair. Dr. McCall also performs ankle and hip arthroscopy, as well as proximal hamstring tendon repairs.
After graduating from medical school at Howard University College of Medicine, Dr. McCall pursued his surgical training locally at Stanford’s Orthopedic Surgical Residency Program. He then completed subspecialty training in shoulder and Sports Medicine Surgery at the world-renowned Southern California Orthopedic Institute with pioneers in arthroscopy such as Stephen Snyder and Richard Ferkel. Dr. McCall has since been actively involved in education and surgical training of surgical residents, fellows, and practicing orthopedic surgeons.
Dr. McCall is currently a team physician for a local high school and junior college. His former team coverage included the San Francisco 49ers (NFL), Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers (NBA), Stanford Football and basketball and the United Football League. He has provided game coverage for numerous high schools and universities as well during his training.
In addition to his clinical interests, Dr. McCall is actively involved with numerous research activities. He has authored several scientific publications, book chapters, surgical videos and abstracts. Furthermore, his work has been presented at national meetings and his manuscripts have been published in the most highly regarded orthopedic journals.
Dr. McCall offers patients a unique combination of top caliber technical and academic training with the personal care and attention of a practice designed for your convenience and comfort. Dr. McCall works with each of his patients to alleviate their pain and return them to an active lifestyle. Dr. McCall delivers excellent clinical results with compassion and a genuinely warm bedside manner.
Dr. McCall's athletic interests have helped define his career goals. He played high school football and he still enjoys playing, when not spending time with his growing family.
