Natasha (Leman) R. Agbai, M.D.

Before I became a doctor, I started as a patient. I was born with a heart defect that was ultimately repaired as a teenager. I was blessed with a wonderful pediatric cardiologist who followed me from birth until I left for college, who served as a mentor on how to treat patients and their families with integrity and respect.

My medical training began at Emory University, where I graduated with a degree in chemistry with high honors, due to my research in biochemistry of the premature lung. I completed my medical degree at UCLA, and became involved in the pediatric cardiology department, where I helped study pediatric heart transplantation, a study that helped me earn a Dean's Scholar Award. Through residency at Stanford, I was exposed to the most complex of illnesses. After training at Stanford, I feel quite comfortable caring for children with complicated medical disease.

I like to think of my patients and families as active participants in our medical team. I believe that my role is to provide the medical expertise necessary to empower you and your family to make educated choices about your child s medical care. I will often sit down with families and explain multiple treatment options, their benefits and risks, and allow the family to choose which option is best. I will often bring textbooks into the exam room to show you pictures, and occasionally excuse myself to look up the most up-to-date recommendations on a rare condition, if it pertains to your child.
