    Philosophy of Care

My philosophy of care has changed with the times. For the past ten years, I have primarily been active in establishing our endocscopy center as one of the premier colon cancer prevention centers in Northern California. We succeeded. In the coming decade of my career, I am focusing on disease management. In particular, the prevention and treatment of complex gastroenterology illnesses that cause disability and loss of opportunities in life. This is a complex task that will take several years. I look forward to creating a network with other professionals (and Volunteers) interested in improving the management of these patients. Furthermore, I embrace the advancement of intuitive technology that will improve the health of individuals. The current revolution in communication and portable handheld computers (smart phones) has the potential to give patients the ability to prevent and control illnesses-in ways that were science fiction only 10 years ago. For example, tiny wearable computers that measure caloric output, sleep efficiency and other biometrics. Has the power to combat a whole array of serious conditions, from obesity to depression to diabetes. The potential is limitless. Genomic and genetic testing is just beginning to reach the surface of clinical utility. The next decade promises to be exciting indeed. I want to be a part of that revolution.
