Philosophy of Care
Welcome to my website, and thanks for checking in. I would love to meet you in person, as this electronic medium can be impersonal, but here's a little bit about me and my philosophy of medicine.
I grew up in India (mostly Mumbai and Chennai) until the age of 16. Immigrating to another county as a teenager was difficult, but I was able to find harmony between both cultures and I have emerged as an adult with a deep respect for people of different backgrounds.
I went to Loyola University in Chicago for my undergraduate education and then headed to Kansas City for medical school. I returned to my beloved Chicago from all my postgraduate training. I got excellent hands-on training in Chicago where I learned to connect with and care for patients with diverse needs.
My husband (whom I met in medical school) and I moved to the Bay Area after we got married and we love it here. My parents live in Fremont and help us raise our baby boy, who fills our life with happiness. Travel, reading, food, dance and exercising are my other passions.
I am a family physician and I love seeing the entire family—from newborns to the old (and wise).
The word "doctor" is derived from the Latin work doctoris which means teacher. I take this role very seriously. As a family doctor, I believe in helping my patients learn to live their life to the fullest potential. I want to empower my patients to take an active role in their health. I thoroughly enjoy the practice of medicine because it is both a fine art and a fascinating science. It requires the doctor to think and feel. This combination of apparent contrasts makes medicine exhilarating. I'm excited about the rare and interesting cases but am also around if you just need a shoulder to cry on.
The health care world can be confusing and intimidating. As a primary care physician, I also serve as your copilot to help you navigate the system and help you find the best options available.
Prevention is the cornerstone of primary care and I believe preventing disease is one of my primary goals. I would like to educate you on healthy choices that will prevent diseases like obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol abnormalities, muscular/joint aches and pain etc. Come on in for a chat!
