Philosophy of Care
My patient care philosophy is to connect with my patients, their families and caregivers through active and authentic listening. My goal is to provide my patients with clinically competent evidence-based health care at the highest standard that assures the patient’s positive health outcomes. As a nurse practitioner, I am committed to providing my patients with access to expert health care, within the context of confidentiality and compassion. My patients will receive individualized care in a professional, respectful and caring way. The world of healthcare is evolving and will continue to do so in the years to come. Nurse practitioners play a vital role in the expansion of medical care with their unique ability to provide high-quality and cost-effective care. What I love about my job are my patients, the people that I work with, and the challenges that my job brings my way every day.
Additional information:
I graduated from Florida international University with a masters degree in science nursing adult nurse practitioner degree. I have been a board-certified nurse practitioner since 2003. Since the start of my career as a nurse practitioner, I have been in gastroenterology practice. I have treated patients with various gastroenterology (GI) issues -- including but not limited to diverticulitis, chronic acid reflux, inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's and colitis), irritable bowel syndrome (predominant with constipation or diarrhea), gastroparesis and fatty liver. Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, I was a nurse for 12 years. During most of this time I was an endoscopy nurse, assisting gastroenterologists with various endoscopic procedures including ERCP, upper endoscopy, colonoscopy etc. This provided me with the opportunity for better understanding of the process of GI diseases and treatments as a nurse practitioner.
