Philosophy of Care
I partner with families to provide the best, evidence-based care possible for their family and child. Heart disease in children is complex with new information emerging rapidly. I communicate this information in an understandable way that is most useful for a particular family. I collaborate with parents to make the best decisions for their family.
When I meet families prenatally, I try to be a calm and friendly presence in checking for heart disease in their fetus. While most of the time I can provide reassurance regarding normal findings, there are times when I have the opportunity to explain a possible new heart condition and the options we have to monitor it. I walk alongside them through the pregnancy and delivery planning, and treasure taking care of these prenatal babies after birth!
My hope is when you come see me as a heart specialist, you feel seen, heard and empowered, knowing more about your child's heart and how we can best take care of it as well as your whole child.
