Fitz-Hugh-Curtis Syndrome

Fitz-Hugh–Curtis syndrome occurs when Reference pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) Opens New Window causes inflammation of the capsule covering the liver and the surrounding area. It causes pain and tenderness in the upper right abdomen over the liver.
This syndrome develops when bacteria enter the abdominal cavity through the Reference fallopian tubes Opens New Window and then follow the flow of Reference peritoneal fluid Opens New Window to the right upper abdomen, where they infect the liver.
