Trichomoniasis
Cause
Trichomoniasis (trich) is caused by a tiny parasite (a one-celled protozoan) that most commonly is sexually transmitted from an infected person.
In
women, trich organisms usually infect the Reference vagina and cervix Opens New Window Reference

Reference urethra Opens New Window,
Reference bladder Opens New Window, and glands in the genital area, such as the
Reference Bartholin's Opens New Window and Skene's glands.
In men,
infections develop in the Reference urethra Opens New Window Reference Opens New Window or under the foreskin of an uncircumcised
penis.
