Frequently Asked Questions

Video visits cost no more than $49.00 and may be covered by your insurance plan.

We will submit the claim to your insurance for review and reimbursement if it is a covered benefit. You will be billed $49.00 after the visit, if it is not a covered benefit. To find out if it is covered, please contact your health plan.

Video visits let you receive the same quality of care from your care team without traveling to the clinic and sitting in the waiting room. Similar to FaceTime or Skype, video visits allow your care team member to see, hear, and talk with you as they would in an in-person visit.

When you schedule your appointment with our Patient Service Representative, or online through My Health Online please provide your chief complaint or primary health concern. Please review the Conditions of Registration (PDF) form and be ready to provide your approval to one of our care team members. We will have access to your family history if you have seen a Sutter Health provider in the past.

A summary of your visit can be found in the Past Appointments section of My Health Online. Go to Appointments and click Past, and click on the specific visit to view more details about the visit.

We recommend using your smartphone and the Sutter Health MyHealthOnline app for iOS or Android for your video visits. You can also use a laptop or a desktop computer and log into the MyHealthOnline website for your video visit. (Please note that at this time, Chrome and Firefox are not supported for video visit)

All you need is a Sutter Health My Health Online account and the My Health Online app on your iPhone or your Android phone. Before your scheduled video visit, log in to the app with your My Health Online account on the phone you plan to use for your visit. Once logged in, tap on Appointments, then select your video visit from the list of Upcoming Appointments. Finally, tap on the Test Video button to make sure everything is set up. (Note: Please make sure you have the most updated version of the app.)

Yes, if the tablet has a front-facing camera and you have the My Health Online app.

Once you schedule your video visit appointment, you will be able to test your setup (e.g., webcam and microphone) to ensure that everything is working properly up to 15 minutes prior to your visit. Please make sure to test your hardware on the same device you will be using for your video visit.

For laptop or desktop computer:

  • Log into the My Health Online portal (http://www.sutterhealth.org/myhealthonline/) with your MHO account information
  • Access your video visit appointment by clicking on “Appointments” -> “Upcoming Appointments”
  • Click on “Test Video”
  • The system will take you through an automated testing process to validate your devices are compatible

    For mobile phone or tablets:

  • Log into your My Health Online app
  • Tap on “Appointment” and select your video visit
  • Tap on “Test Video” and validate your mobile device is compatible

15 minutes before your scheduled appointment time, you will see a Begin Visit or a Launch Video button in MyHealthOnline. Simply tap or click on the button to join your video visit. Once your care team joins, your visit will begin.

At the time you schedule your video visit, you will be asked to provide a back-up telephone number where your care team member can reach you in case there are any issues with the video connection. If there are technical issues during your video visit, we will call you to continue your visit by phone.

While any place with a fast internet connection will work, we recommend that you have your video visit in a place that is safe, and private enough for you to comfortably discuss your health questions with your care team.

You can cancel your visit by logging in to My Health Online and clicking on Cancel in your upcoming appointment details.
