In 2025, Sutter provided more than **$1.1 billion in community benefit**, including:

**$101 million** in traditional charity care \*

**$830 million** in unreimbursed costs of providing care to Medi-Cal patients

## Closing care gaps

As a not-for-profit health system, Sutter Health is committed to expanding access to care, addressing health disparities and improving the well-being of the communities we serve.

Our commitment extends beyond hospitals and care centers. Through partnerships with community-based organizations, local leaders and other health systems, we work to remove barriers to care and connect people with the health and support services they need to thrive.

To better understand local health priorities and identify the most pressing health challenges, Sutter Health conducts [Community Health Needs Assessments](https://www.sutterhealth.org/about-us/community-impact/community-health-needs-assessment) every three years across the regions we serve. In 2025, Sutter-supported programs and community partnerships designed to help close healthcare gaps and connect more people with essential health and social services in the following priority areas:

### Healthcare access and delivery and prevention of chronic diseases
