At Sutter Health, all patients receive high-quality care regardless of their circumstances. We deliver care that meets the unique needs of our communities with a commitment to ensuring access to care and optimal health outcomes for all.
In 2001 and 2002 the Institute of Medicine (IOM) published Crossing the Quality Chasm and Unequal Treatment, which "confronted racial and ethnic disparities in healthcare" across the country. Many hospitals and healthcare institutions have taken steps to respond to these reports.
Sutter Health has taken the lead to Advance Health Equity by developing the Health Equity Index, a tool to identify, measure, and respond to health inequities across our system beginning with four ambulatory care sensitive conditions: asthma, diabetes, heart failure, and COPD.
