## Your Journey Starts Here

At Sutter, we’re expanding access with new care centers, more doctors and cutting-edge technology designed to deliver a more seamless, connected healthcare experience.

## **Open Enrollment**

During open enrollment, review your options to find the right plan for you. Follow these three simple steps to enroll in a plan that includes access to Sutter’s award-winning doctors and clinicians — a whole team on your team.

### 1\. Choose a Plan

Sutter contracts with many major insurance carriers. Search the list of [accepted plans](https://www.sutterhealth.org/health-plan) to see if your plan is accepted.

### 2\. Find a Doctor

Use our online tool to search for a doctor by specialty, location and more. After you've selected your doctor, be sure to write down their name — you may need it when you enroll.

[Find Doctor](https://www.sutterhealth.org/find-provider)

### 3\. Complete Your Enrollment

Now that you’ve selected your plan and doctor, complete your employer’s enrollment form. Please contact your employer if you have questions about the plan benefits.

Frequently Asked Questions

**What's the difference between a Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) and a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO)?**

The main difference between an HMO and a PPO is the covered providers and the referral process.

With an HMO, you have access to a select network of providers and must choose a primary care physician (PCP) who provides most of your healthcare, coordinates your care and refers you to specialists. HMO plans often come at a lower cost compared to PPO plans.

With a PPO, you have access to a broader network of providers and can self-refer to specialists. While you’re encouraged to stay in-network for cost-saving benefits, you can receive care out-of-network. However, this flexibility often comes with higher premiums and out-of-pocket costs than an HMO
