With your charitable donations, the Music Therapy Program at CPMC will be able to expand, bringing music and compassionate healing to as many patients as possible.

GIVE NOW TO CPMC MUSIC THERAPY

At no cost, on a referral basis, board-certified music therapists are now available to Sutter Health CPMC’s patients, including adults, children and NICU infants. NICU music therapists hold an advanced credential to provide music therapy to premature infants to address medical and developmental goals.

In the hospital, music therapy can be used to:

• Reduce pain, anxiety, and stress
• Promote relaxation, sedate, or induce sleep
• Improve mood
• Provide family support and promote family interaction
• Provide support before, during or after medical procedures
• Provide end-of-life support

Music therapy uses research-based music interventions to address individualized patient goals that support social, communication, emotional, physical, cognitive, sensory and spiritual needs. Program leader Elisha Madsen, MME, MT-BC (NICU-MT) and other board-certified music therapists use music to conduct assessments, develop treatment plans and implement interventions such as singing, songwriting, music listening, song discussion, active music making (playing musical instruments), music-assisted relaxation, imagery and performance.
