Saving Tiny Lives
Ted and Pamala Deikel have made a visionary philanthropic investment in CPMC’s Newborn Intensive Care Unit. This Regional Level III NICU will now deliver its exceptional care to around 600 premature babies and families every year as the newly named Deikel Family Newborn ICU (NICU).
A previous gift from the Deikel’s allowed the NICU to acquire three multipurpose ventilators that offered premature babies several different forms of breathing assistance — innovative technology that eliminates the need to switch back and forth between different types of ventilators and supports less invasive forms of breathing assistance to help protect the babies’ developing lungs. In addition, these quiet new machines help the babies sleep better, too.
When we give to the NICU I feel as if we’re helping save a life.
