Shoshana Ungerleider, M.D. completed her residency at CPMC in 2013. During her residency, she was drawn to palliative care, which focuses on relieving suffering. The experience inspired Shoshana and her father, Steven Ungerleider, Ph.D., to make a philanthropic investment that started a palliative care education program for CPMC medical residents. Ultimately, she says, “When doctors are better trained to have difficult conversations around suffering and end-of-life issues, we focus care on quality of life, instead of just length of life.”
We focus care on quality of life.
