Join us for a transformative journey!","duration":"PT3M8S","transcript":"[MUSIC PLAYING]\nURSULA BOYNTON: This is an incredibly exciting time\nfor Alta Bates Summit Medical Center.\nWe've never had a graduate medical education program.\nSERENA SMITH: Sutter Health recognized\nthat there is a lack of physicians in the area.\nTOSAN BOYO: The East Bay is not only changing,\nit's going to continue to grow.\nAnd we get to bring physician learners here\nto be a part of that journey.\nGLENHALL TAYLOR: There is a very diverse patient population\nthat exists within Oakland.\nAnd because of that, you're seeing\na lot of interesting cases that are\ncoming through where you have to be able to think on your feet.\nFor example, my first rotation was in the ICU,\nwhich is pretty scary.\nBut I was able to survive with the help of my co-residents,\nas well as my attendings.\nANANT HARI: What I love most about being a resident\nhere is the people.\nBoth my residency class, but also\nprogram leadership, the attendings, even just the staff\naround the hospital have all been so open and enthusiastic\nand wonderful to work with.\nThat has really made this transition incredibly easy.\nJONATHAN LEE: I'm really excited for the residents\nto be able to really see what it's like to be a primary care\ndoctor.\nI don't think in medical school we really\nget that experience about what it's like.\nAnd I think that's really the big draw of primary care\nin ambulatory medicine.\nAnd I really want our residents to be able to experience that.\nLINDSEY REICH: This program provides a great opportunity\nto work one on one with attendings\nand get a lot of personalized attention in terms of learning\nhow to conduct a physical exam and formulate an assessment\nand plan.\nIt's a great place to learn.\nRAWAN ATALLAH: One of the best things\nthat I realized after coming here\nis that our voices are heard.\nWe have those Frequent Feedback Fridays.\nEverything is taken into consideration,\nand I really love that the leadership\nis trying to make it the best residency program and the best\nexperience.\nGLENHALL TAYLOR: Say for those that\nare looking for a program that have\nmaybe a little access to the surf, to the snow,\nto wonderful food, you have that here.\nANANT HARI: Everyone always wants to know about the food.\nAnd I'll say the food here is pretty great.\nAs a vegetarian, I always have multiple options\nduring the week.\nJust in general, being in the Bay Area, being in Oakland\nmeans that the food here outside of the hospital\nis pretty great, too.\nHARISH RENGARAJAN: Being in the Bay Area, our strong faculty\nmembers, Sutter Health organization, with its resources\nand GM expertise, as well as the fact that Alta Bates Summit\nMedical Center is a very important hospital\nin the community, makes this one of the best places to train.\nIf you want to be in the forefront of health care,\nthis is the place to be.\nJEEVEN BRAH: I did my residency program\nin a similar urban setting that had a variety,\na diversity of patients.\nSo after I graduated from residency,\nI wanted to practice in a similar place.\nAnd now I realize how much my training\nhas served me as a physician.\nI remember my attendings who taught me so much.\nAnd I wish to carry on that tradition of passing\nthe knowledge on to the future generation of doctors\nwho will pick up the responsibility of serving\nour community."} ```
