This high impact teaching session occurs four times per week and provides our residents an opportunity to discuss the best and most educational cases from our large medical center. We have a very broad range of cases and our teaching faculty provide guidance, clinical pearls, and practical advice about patient care. Each Friday, a Week in Review summarizes the week’s cases in an interactive question-answer format. If you interview at CPMC, you will find our Residents' Report to be among the best you will observe. **Intern Report** This is a protected hour long session for interns that occurs once weekly. Our faculty, including subspecialists, teach core internal medicine topics with a special emphasis on the learning needs of interns. Topics have included diverse subjects such as answering emergency calls, diabetic insulin management, EKG review, and PFT interpretation. **Noon Conference**  This occurs multiple times a week and includes both faculty and visiting physicians who speak on a wide array of subjects. In addition to addressing internal medicine topics, other subjects include ethics, medical economics, medical humanities, psychosocial medicine, and health-care reform. There are also monthly clinical-pathologic conferences (CPC), clinical problem solving cases (CPS), morbidity and mortality discussions, ambulatory care conferences, and medical grand rounds. A catered lunch is provided. **Subspecialty Grand Rounds**  We also have subspecialty Grand Rounds every week, these include: cardiology, gastroenterology, neurology, transplantation medicine, and cardiothoracic surgery departments. ### Ambulatory Medicine **Ambulatory Morning Report**  Occurs weekly and is an interactive, case-based, evidence-based discussion. The presenting resident frames the report around a clinical question generated by an outpatient clinic visit. **Core Curriculum**  This is a weekly small group two-hour didactic session that allows us to dive deep into core Ambulatory topics such as the outpatient treatment of Hyperlipidemia, Diabetes, Depression, Hypertension, Asthma, STIs, and more. **Evidence-Based Medicine and Journal Club**  This is a weekly small group two-hour didactic session where we learn how to analyze journal articles, review biostatistics, and critique study design. **Pre-Clinic Conference**  These conferences are held daily from 1:00 pm – 1:30 pm. Topics include: hypertension, COPD, diabetes management, cancer screening, medical communication, office gynecology, and psychiatry. Clinic attendings or chief residents lead these conferences. ### Other Didactics Throughout the Year **Board Review Series**  Our board review sessions occur once a month during the 12:00 pm conference. Materials used include questions written by the program director as well as MKSAP for Boards, MedStudy and other board review texts.  In addition we also provide an internal Accelerated Board Review Course in the late spring to prepare our residents.  A catered dinner is served at these extremely popular, lively seminars that draw learners at all stages of training.  **Sim Man Simulation**  We utilize a state of the art simulation mannequin (Sim Man 3G) which offers supervised opportunities to manage a variety of acute care medical scenarios, in conjunction with the Department of Pulmonary and Critical Care. **Ultrasound Rounds**  We have a resident run curriculum to teach point of care, bedside ultrasound skills, an important diagnostic tool in clinical practice. We have several ultrasound devices used in the hospital to practice various areas of ultrasound imaging: cardiology, pulmonology, gastroenterology, nephrology, DVT screening, central line placement, and more. ### Living in San Francisco There’s never a dull moment in San Francisco, a national hub for culture, dining, outdoor activities, local events, theater and parades.
