Memorial Medical Center and Sutter Health advance and encourage a culturally diverse and inclusive environment with a focus on recruitment, selection, and retention of a diverse cohort, who are all empowered to reach their full potential. ## Family Medicine Residency Program Residents in the program will have access to the tools they need in a learning environment that prepares future physicians to provide safe, high-quality, and compassionate care. The inaugural cohort will also have the unique opportunity to help shape what is expected to be a premier residency program and significantly improve access to care within Stanislaus County. The program’s primary site is Memorial Medical Center. Our Family Medicine residents will train under board-certified and licensed physicians with extensive teaching experience. These dedicated doctors will mentor residents and instill in them a desire for lifelong learning with a goal of improving their patient’s lives and their communities throughout their careers. An innovative curriculum with a focus on caring for the family unit, including the parental-infant unit and caring for the whole community in addition to the whole person prioritizes a patient-centered, comprehensive, and full-scope learning experience during residency. HILBURN: We like the fact\nthat we're involved in patients' lives.\nIf you want to be a physician in a small community,\nthat's what we can offer that no one else can offer.\nRAELEIGH PAYANES: There she is.\nThat's right there, yeah.\nIn the Central Valley, patients have\nvery complex medical conditions, but they're also\ncomplex socially.\nIt's a great opportunity for us to think\nabout social determinants of health\nand how the different things in our communities\nreally impact our health.\nPRIYA KISHORE: Dr. Payanes has made it a point\nto establish that this is a program that's\nfocused on caring for the community,\nand that's something I'm very passionate about.\nJASIP SINGH: We are a very close-knit group.\nWe usually hang out together outside the clinic.\nAnd it's a family rather than just like co-residents.\nI'm proud that we created that culture here.\n[MUSIC PLAYING]\nDAVID A. HILBURN: This is the Patterson Satellite\nClinic of Sutter Gould.\nWe have a surgery unit here.\nThe family doctor is basically the foundation\nof medical knowledge in town.\nOut here, we have the benefits of being a part of a large\ngroup, which is what Sutter Gould is,\nsome 470-odd physicians.\nBut you can also be in a small town,\nand that's something that I really enjoy.\n[MUSIC PLAYING]\nRAELEIGH PAYANES: This program is definitely\nin a phase of growth.\nWe are continuously finding new opportunities\nfor really exciting learning and incorporating new technology.\nABDUL MUREED ALIM: Residents will be part of a bigger\npicture, not only clinical training but also AI-initiative,\na state-of-the-art sim lab.\nPRIYA KISHORE: We have all of these resources.\nEverything's newly set up for us.\nBeing that Sutter is a large health care system,\nit provides multiple opportunities\nfor career advancement.\nJASIP SINGH: The Central Valley opens up\na lot of doors of learning.\nIt's an amazing place to grow your skills.\nAnd those skills will help you serve any population in the US."} ```
