Henry Thai, M.D.

Dr. Henry Thai joined the Encina practice with 20 years of clinical experience at the Palo Alto Medical Foundation. Dr. Thai graduated from the University of Southern California School of Medicine in 1997 and completed his residency at the Santa Clara Valley/Stanford program in 2000.

Dr. Thai’s career at PAMF has been filled with a variety of clinical and administrative responsibilities.   He serves as the Medical Director for PAMF’s Executive Health Department and performs comprehensive health and wellness evaluations of executive leaders in many of Silicon Valley’s premier corporations.  He also chaired PAMF’s Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, helping reduce medication errors while improving pharmaceutical affordability. Dr. Thai also served as Managed Care Medical Director and became familiar with the Bay Area’s extensive network of medical specialists and the latest medical innovations.   

In 2008, a local company approached Dr. Thai to improve the wellness of its employees.  Dr. Thai designed and launched an innovative, award-winning on-site wellness program that helped 200 employees lose weight, enabling employees to better control their high blood pressure and diabetes.  The company noted decreased work-related injuries and improved employee wellbeing as a result. 

While I enjoy being engaged in various administrative roles, my true passion in medicine lies in clinical patient care.  I value the relationships I’ve built through the years with my patients and I look forward to taking life’s journey with them for the next two decades of my career.

I believe in blending the art of medicine with evidence-based research.  Having an open mind to know what you can do to help your patients, but more importantly, to be aware of what you don’t know, and be open to new ways of caring for patients is vital to being a good doctor.
