Financial Assistance

Emergency Financial Assistance — Sutter employees who experienced a devastating loss from storm-related flooding are eligible to apply for Emergency Financial Assistance to help cover expenses for emergency housing, food, clothing and other essentials.

Disaster Recovery Pay — This program provides employees with up to 40 hours of pay (based on FTE status) when their Sutter worksite facility is closed due to mandatory evacuation.

Sutter Health Philanthropic Disaster Relief Fund —  Financial support available in certain circumstances to supplement an approved Emergency Financial Assistance request to help employees recover from the impact of natural disasters.

Additional Assistance

Emergency Lodging — Emergency lodging is available for front-line employees who are displaced from their home due to a flood-related mandatory evacuation so they may continue to report to work and provide patient care at a Sutter facility. The maximum lodging allowance is one room for up to four nights (five days), not to exceed $200/day. These expenses must be approved in advance by the employee’s department manager and will be charged to the department through the expense reimbursement process.

Six Things Fire Disaster Victims Should Know

When Fire Destroys Your Home: Helpful Next Steps

Coping With Poor Air Quality

As the fires in Northern California continue, the air quality is poor. When air pollution is bad, it can irritate your eyes, nose, and throat, cause shortness of breath, aggravate asthma and other respiratory conditions.

Sutter Health’s Chief Quality & Safety Officer William Isenberg, M.D., offers the following precautions during this time of smoky or poor air:

  • Stay indoors, if possible.
  • Use air conditioning, if available.
  • Keep hydrated. Aim for drinking an 8-ounce glass of water, eight to 10 times per day.
  • If you have asthma, emphysema, or other respiratory diseases, use your maintenance puffers/inhalers. In addition, carry your rescue puffer/inhaler with you if you leave your home.
