This peer support group is for children and teens, ages 4-17 years old, grieving the death of a significant person in the last year. Art and creative activities are used to facilitate healthy self-expression and grief work. Children are placed in groups according to age and development.
Each group is facilitated by a masters-level therapist with extensive background in childhood grief. The therapist is assisted by trained volunteers. The therapist maintains regular phone contact with parents and guardians to discuss the child's progress in the group. A family night is held at the end of the program to which the child may invite family and friends to share the experiences of the group.
This 8 session group is held every other week over a four-month period, 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm. There is a waiting list. There is no charge for the group but donations are gladly accepted. Please call (916) 887-5275 for more information.
