Neurological disorders affect up to one billion people worldwide with conditions such as epilepsy, Alzheimer disease, stroke, headache, brain injuries, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease. Our donors make it possible for Sutter Health affiliates to better diagnose and support our neurological patients through their treatment journey.
Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento
Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento continues to advance its treatment of complex conditions of the brain and spine, such as stroke, epilepsy, sleep disorders and brain tumors. The Sutter Neuroscience Institute now houses one of the only memory clinics in Northern California specifically designed for long-term management of memory disorders. Specialists at the Institute provide the latest treatment options to patients with complex conditions of the brain and central nervous system.
Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital
Philanthropic donations to Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital Foundation has entirely funded the Rock Steady program, a program that helps Parkinson’s patients “fight back” against the debilitating disease through non-contact, boxing-inspired workouts and training. Parkinson’s disease can cause deterioration of motor skills, balance, speech and sensory function, which are many of the same elements that boxers condition to improve.
Tracy Community Hospital
At Tracy Community Hospital, donors helped to greatly enhance the certified stroke program. This program provides necessary support for patients who have suffered a stroke, by helping to fund enhancements for speech, occupational and other therapies. In addition, donors helped to increase the number of staff in the program by adding a research assistant.
