Interventional cardiologists are medical doctors who specialize in performing surgical
or invasive procedures—such as cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, and stenting—to
diagnose and treat heart disease.
Interventional cardiologists can be board-certified as internists or interventional
cardiologists through the Board of Internal Medicine, which is recognized by the American
Board of Medical Specialties.
