MODESTO, Calif. – Julisa Solorio was born 13 years ago…about 14 weeks earlier than planned. Now, 13 years later, she is repaying an act of kindness shown her mother during a very trying time.
For her Girl Scouts Silver Award project, Julisa organized a group to assist her in sewing 50 handmade baby blankets. She and her mom recently delivered the baby blankets to Memorial Medical Center’s neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), and Memorial’s staff were more than happy to accept them.
Julisa was born at 26 weeks and weighed 2 pounds, 3.8 ounces. “We were on vacation in Squaw Valley when contractions started,” said Angelica Solorio, Julisa’s mom. Read more... about Local Girl Scout pays it forward
