Seven Sutter Medical Network Organizations Earn Top IHA Honors
SACRAMENTO, Calif.—Seven Sutter Health-aligned physician organizations received top honors today for providing exceptionally high-quality medical care to seniors and people with disabilities in 2016.
The Integrated Healthcare Association, a nonprofit organization committed to improving healthcare quality and affordability, recognized the seven Sutter Medical Network members, among 181 physician groups the IHA evaluated statewide.
Using 12 clinical quality measures, the IHA assigned star ratings based on how well the physician groups cared for patients enrolled in Medicare Advantage health plans. Measures included rates of eye exams, breast and colorectal cancer screenings, and blood sugar control for patients with diabetes.
Three Sutter-affiliated physician organizations, among only 10 eligible groups statewide, received a five-star rating, the IHA’s highest, for 2016:
Palo Alto Foundation Medical Group
Sutter East Bay Medical Group
Mills-Peninsula Medical Group
Four Sutter groups received a 4.5-star rating:
Gould Medical Group
Sutter Medical Group
Sutter Medical Group of the Redwoods
Central Valley Medical Group
In addition, Sutter East Bay Medical Group, Mills-Peninsula Medical Group and Central Valley Medical Group earned the IHA’s Most Improved rating for 2016.
“Physician organizations participate voluntarily in these IHA ratings,” said Don Wreden, M.D., senior vice president for Sutter Health’s Office of Patient Experience. “Our groups’ outstanding performance in 2016, and every year, shows how dedicated they are to continually improving the quality of care they provide to an especially vulnerable patient population.”
