2013 March for Babies Fundraising Update
This year, Sutter Health’s fundraising team raised $581,343 for the March for Babies campaign—an amazing feat that will help babies have a healthy start in life. Additionally, we’re proud to announce that we remain Northern California’s top fundraising team and the nation’s top health care fundraising team.
This year marks the March of Dimes’ (MOD) 75th anniversary. It also marks Sutter Health’s 15th year of partnership with the MOD. In that time, we’ve raised more than $6 million to help find solutions to problems that threaten the health of babies and support life-saving research and programs to help mothers have full-term pregnancies.
On top of our fundraising efforts, our clinicians’ partner with the MOD to address issues associated with preterm birth. Six hospitals in California—including three Sutter Health-affiliated hospitals—are among the first in the nation to join a multi-state collaborative comprised of state health departments, academic health centers and MOD chapters from the five most populous states in the country. This group piloted a toolkit called “Elimination of Non-medically Indicated (Elective) Deliveries Before 39 Weeks Gestational Age.” As a result, elective deliveries before 39 weeks in California are on the decline, making a significant impact on the health of babies.
