Rachael McKinney named CEO at Sutter Davis Hospital
DAVIS, Calif. – Rachael McKinney, a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, has been named chief executive officer at Sutter Davis Hospital. She began her new role on November 27, 2017.
McKinney served as the Chief Operating Officer for VEP Healthcare for almost three years. During her time there she helped grow the hospital-based physician services company and improved their operations and provider satisfaction significantly across the eight states they serve.

McKinney began her career as an administrative fellow for Sutter Health where she quickly distinguished herself as a capable leader. She spent seven years working in operations at Sutter Solano Medical Center. During her time there she managed various ancillary and support departments including the cancer center where she was successful in growing oncology services as well as leading the team to achieve American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer accreditation.
McKinney joined Sutter Health’s Sacramento Sierra Region leadership team in 2011 as the Regional Executive for Neurosciences, a role she held for four years. She was instrumental in improving quality for Sutter Health patients and growing the service line across the nine-county region. She is credited with designing and implementing large scale construction projects, and raising significant philanthropic donations to support the care of patients.
McKinney is a resident of the Sacramento area and has participated and led several community and professional organizations. She holds a bachelors of arts degree in economics from Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota and a masters of healthcare administration from the University of Minnesota.
McKinney is a dedicated leader who has a strong understanding of the healthcare market. She is a champion of community based health care and devoted to delivering care at the highest level.
McKinney replaces Jennifer Maher who was recently named CEO at Sutter Roseville Medical Center.
