HMR Program Ranked a No. 1 “Best Fast Weight-Loss Diet” for Third Year
PALO ALTO, Calif.– For the third consecutive year, HMR Weight Management Services (HMR) has been ranked as a No. 1 Best Fast Weight-Loss Diet in an annual 2018 ranking by U.S. News & World Report.
The simple and high-intensity lifestyle intervention program is offered by Sutter Health’s Palo Alto Medical Foundation at two locations, 301 Old San Francisco Road in Sunnyvale, and 795 El Camino Real in Palo Alto.
The magazine evaluated 40 of the most popular diets and weight-loss programs on a range of levels from heart healthiness to their likelihood of helping people lose weight.
“Successful weight loss is not only about losing pounds quickly, it’s about creating changes around eating and physical activity that you can sustain over the long term,” said Carol Addy, M.D. MMSc, Chief Medical Officer at HMR. “By keeping the plan simple, people can lose weight quickly while building the skills they need for long-term weight management.”
Staff members at PAMF who have been on the diet have been pleased with the results.
“I tried all the other programs over the years, and lost and regained all of the weight and more…until HMR,” said Marjorie Mangers, PAMF area operations executive, South Bay Area. “It’s the only program that helped me keep the weight off for more than 7 years now!”
Ideal for people who want to lose 20 or more pounds, the HMR Program can be followed at home as a self-guided option. To get started, participants can order a kit, which is included with a fee for the program.The Program is also available with more intensive in-person support at Palo Alto Medical Foundation.
the Plan Works
The nutritionally complete plan simplifies food decisions by using only HMR foods (shakes, entrées, cereal and nutrition bars) and unlimited fruits and vegetables. The plan follows a 3/2/5 structure designed to keep people feeling full throughout the day.The daily plan includes at least three shakes, two entrees, and five servings of fruits and vegetables. People are encouraged to eat as many of these foods as they like to avoid hunger.
While losing weight, people practice developing skills in three specific areas:
- How to eat more fruits and vegetables;
- How to increase physical activity;
- How to make healthier food choices.
These are the lifestyle skills that will help keep the weight off, as well as help reduce the risk factors for the development of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, some types of cancer and other chronic diseases.
