Oakland A’s Sign Sutter Health as Preferred Healthcare Provider
The Oakland Athletics and Sutter Health today announced a multi-year partnership agreement that names the Northern California network as the team’s preferred healthcare provider. Through this partnership, the team and Sutter Health will promote health and wellness initiatives, including a new youth wellness program.
“We have been impressed with Sutter Health’s world-class care for years through two of our team doctors (team orthopedist Dr. Jon Dickinson and team physician Dr. Allan Pont),” said Michael Crowley, president of the Oakland Athletics. “Now, we proudly join forces in the community as well. Sutter Health exemplifies community commitment, and together, we will develop and expand programs to help A’s fans and Northern California residents stay active and healthy.”
Sutter Health will now sponsor Breast Cancer Awareness Day, the 7th inning stretch, and a new youth wellness program, the Fitness Sluggers. Fitness Sluggers aims to educate and encourage Northern California youth to live healthy and active lifestyles through four bases: 60 minutes of daily activity, nutrition and healthy eating habits, sun safety and teamwork. The A’s and Sutter Health will implement Fitness Sluggers programs at local YMCAs and other area community organizations. The partnership will also give A’s players opportunities to visit with and inspire local patients at Sutter Health hospitals and clinics.
“Healthcare is a team sport and partnering with the A’s gives us a special way to connect with fans and their families,” said Sutter Health President and CEO Sarah Krevans. “Together, we will champion healthy lifestyles and behaviors by educating and motivating others toward their best personal health and wellbeing.”
Sutter Health is one of the many new team partners for the 2016 season: Back Forty BBQ, Black Bear Diner, Chipotle, Enterprise, Independent Electric Supply, Lyft, Modelo Beer, Peet’s Coffee and Tea, Ray Morgan Company and TOTAL also join the lineup. The team also renewed a number of long-term partners this offseason, including AAA, Budweiser, Chevrolet, Kelly Moore Paints, Round Table Pizza and State Farm.
