Sutter Health and UMass Amherst Team Up on MBA Program
Latest Effort to Develop Future Health Care Leaders and Foster Career Growth
Building on the success of its Leadership Academy, a program for aspiring, high-potential leaders modeled after an advanced MBA program, Sutter Health introduces a new MBA opportunity for all employees through a unique collaboration with the renowned Isenberg School of Management at UMass Amherst.
Starting this month Sutter Health network employees may enroll in online MBA courses from UMass Amherst’s nationally-recognized program at discounted tuition rates. In addition, graduates of Sutter Health’s Leadership Academy benefit from waived elective credits in pursuit of an MBA with a Focus in Medical Management; the program will credit completed coursework in Sutter’s year-long academic and experiential learning program.
“The Isenberg School of Management at UMass Amherst is excited to partner with Sutter Health to offer its employees an MBA degree that serves as a powerful lever for successfully transitioning to administrative positions in health care,” said John Wells, associate dean for professional programs, UMass Amherst. “Upon graduation, Sutter Health employees will possess the business knowledge and skills to manage health care operations effectively and efficiently.”

The UMass program enjoys participation from 50 U.S. states and 23 foreign countries, lending great diversity to online discussions and activities.

Career Development at Sutter Health:
- Annual Scholarships – Since 2003, the Van R. Johnson Sutter Scholars program has awarded more than $5.5 million in college scholarship funds to help the children and grandchildren of Sutter Health and affiliate employees pursue their academic goals.
